Did you know that March 8th is International Women's Day? It was news to me but I'm liking it. I hadn't heard of it until browsing some websites today. More honestly, I was tempting myself with some DVF shoes and DVF and her chic site introduced me to International Women's Day 2013. See here for some special celebrations:
Proud to be a woman Day
This news certainly fits with a few of the things I have on my mind this week.
One of my favorite things about blogging is the generosity, creativity, style and warmth I have discovered within the blogging community. In this last year I feel honored to have connected with some fabulous women (see my blog faves for a peek). Earlier this week the talented (and very photogenic!) Adrienne of The Rich Life (on a budget) hosted the 17th installment of 'How I wore Mine' Green post. It was fun to be included in this post, wearing my lime green Michael Kors number, with bloggers from around the world. Thank you Adrienne, I know it was a labor of love and it was wonderful to connect with these amazing women in this stylish post.
As for DVF~ Diane Von Furstenberg is, hands down, one of my all time favorite designers. I love her style, her staying power (hello Wrap Dress circa 1970's), her vision ( I have visited the High Line in NYC), and her joie de vivre. I am such a fan but have never owned a piece of DVF. Honestly, I'm not one to spend a fortune on fashion. I appreciate the adventure of travel, and some fine dining, so I spread the budget love around. I'm in the stage of life where I'm thinking quality, not quantity, so I've saved up a little stash to add a DVF piece to my wardrobe. I'm thinking shoes:
This could be a good time of year (tail end of winter) to update my ankle boots (on sale!)
But these look like the perfect spring pointy toe lady like pump (minty green) so fresh~forward thinking!
And these look like the perfect wedge sandal, with some shine, considering we have a beachy vacation coming up next month
but I've had my eye on these since I wore out my dancing shoes months ago~
and I like it best in Silver~
What to do?
When adding to your wardrobe do you go practical (boots on sale) or some type of splurge that you have had your eye on but may wear only occasionally? I fight myself on this constantly (do the math-divide the sales price by the number of average wears....).
Yep-sometimes you just want the stilettos.
How do you decide?
A few more stylish pieces from DVF (including some great sales!)
Happy International Women's Day to you!!
(and if you are a guy reading this-flowers are a nice touch for a special day!)
To all the fabulous women in my life ~
